Home Leone, Sierra Leone

The Shanta Foundation has sponsored a Primary Health Care Unit in Home Leone, a village in Sierra Leone.  In 2018 we supported construction of 16 new homes in the village. We believe the clinic will make a significant difference to the community in a nation where healthcare provisions are some of the worst on earth.  There are 4 areas of focus at the Health Centre, mother and baby, dentistry, general practice, and pharmacy.  In addition, there will be health education within the facility.

We expect the facility to ultimately serve a population of 5,000 people and should be complete towards the latter end of the year. It will improve health outcomes for these people providing basic provision in deprived community. The operational costs will be achieved through patients contributions for services and pharmacy, government funding of drugs for defined groups of people and initially some external support through international fund raising.
