Waymade College of Nursing

Shanta Foundation has sponsored Nursing College at Shree Hospital, Karamsad.

There is a shortage of nurses in Gujarat and with growing population, increased life span and emigration of nurses to developed countries the problem will become acute if not addressed.

Shree Kirshna Hospital is a multi-speciality hospital situated in Karamsad in 100 acre site with greenery around it. It is a teaching hospital training both doctors and nurses.  It provides free medical treatment for those who cannot afford to pay.  It is very well known locally for providing quality care and has been recipient of many awards and accolades.  It is a well run and well managed hospital treating over 400,000 outpatients and 35,000 inpatients a year.  Shanta Foundation sponsored Waymade Critical Centre at the site and have good experience of working with the Trustees of the Hospital.

There is currently a facility to train 265 nurses for a Nursing Diploma, BSc Nursing and a MSc Nursing course. This will be extended by 230 to 495.  This will help fill some vacancies in the hospital but also an ongoing increased supply of trained nursing resource.  The new complex will provide additional space for lecture halls and laboratories for nursing, nutrition, obstetrics, gynaecology and child health nursing. Other facilities include a multipurpose hall, library, faculty room and ancillary accommodation.  There is also a nursing hostel and other hostels which foster good social interactions with student from other disciplines.

Bhikhu, Vijay and their wives Shashi and Smita performed the Foundation Stone Ceremony in January 2024.
